Apply for OFTEC Membership


Full membership of OFTEC is open to organisations that:

  • Manufacture oil-fired heating and cooking equipment
  • Produce and/or distribute oil for domestic use
  • Train and optionally assess technicians to commission, service and install oil-fired equipment

Associate membership is open to organisations that trade with our members

You may be asked to supply supporting information with your application. This allows us to ensure that we give membership only to reputable companies that uphold OFTEC and industry standards, and so maintain benefits for members.

What happens to your application?


Your application is passed to the member services council for approval. When your application is approved you’ll receive an invoice for your initial membership fee. Once you have paid this, OFTEC sends you a welcome pack which includes information on accessing the members’ only area of this website.

Approved centres for training and assessment will be able to order the assessment materials.

The initial membership period is until 31 December of the year of application. To retain membership of the association you must pay your annual subscription which is invoiced every December for the following year. Membership fees are used to ensure standards throughout the industry:

  • promoting the use of oil for cooking and heating

  • bringing together the different interests within the industry

  • keeping you informed about industry developments

  • promoting training, qualification and registration of technicians and administering the competent persons scheme
