The need for training
OFTEC Training Centres The need for the achievement of high standards of combustion efficiency is universally accepted. For environmental, safety and economic reasons, it is necessary to make sure that fuel is delivered and used without waste and minimises environmental impact and that the working practices of personnel concerned with storage and combustion are kept up to date with the increasing demands of developing technology.
In order to achieve such levels of competence, it is necessary for Technicians to be trained to the highest standards and have their knowledge continuously updated.
OFTEC also provides training for those engaged in advising the general public about oil central heating.
Training Centres
OFTEC has approved a number of Training Centres at which courses are run. Most also provide facilities for Assessments to be undertaken.
A new status for Oil Firing Technicians
and Advisers
The training given by OFTEC is designed to increase awareness of safety, environmental protection and of the technical aspects of oil firing. The courses are part of the considerable effort that is being made to raise the status of Technicians and Advisers, and to recognise the vital part they play in improving energy efficiency in the United Kingdom and in securing the future of their own industry.
Training Material
OFTEC has issued a series of technical manuals for use on training courses. They can also be purchased directly from OFTEC. As well as technical manuals, OFTEC publishes a series of free issue technical information sheets.
